Joana R. Sá was born in Mirandela in 1993, however she spent most of her life in Faro, the city where she completed her Degree in Visual Arts and Post-Graduation in Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Algarve. She currently resides and works in Porto, where she graduated from her Masters Degree in Fine Arts – Specialization in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, with the project «Lapso: o desvio na imagem.». She belongs to Associação 289, a collective of artists that promotes contemporary art events in the Algarve region. She has participated in several exhibitions since 2013, such as “Octagonal” at Galeria Trem in Faro (2017), “289 – Um Projecto de Pedro Cabrita Reis” at Associação 289 in Faro (2018) and “Noroeste- Sudeste: Novas Perspectivas no Desenho” at the Júlio Resende Foundation: No Lugar do Desenho in Porto (2019). Joana R. Sá’s work revolves around drawing, exploring themes such as deviation, gesture and memory, concepts that gave rise to metaphors between man and machine; the drawing and the code, the organic and the mechanical.
